The clients had lived in the property for a number of years but wanted to add more living space connected to the garden that would take advantage of the far reaching views. The clients brief was to replace a small existing rear extension with a new living and play space that would provide a bright and modern home for their young family.
The existing structural walls were kept in place but window openings were removed allowing a connection to the new rear extension. Raised above the ground, an external deck provides access to the garden and a space to rest outside, entertaining guests or simply enjoying the views over the Bath countryside. Externally clad in untreated larch strips, internally the warm natural douglas fir roof structure is exposed and sits below a large flat rooflight which, combined with new aluminium sliding doors, floods the extension with natural light.
